Bailiffs follow on after court action from a creditor ( county court judgements or magistrates court action for non domestic council tax) .
When a creditor decides to follow the bailiff route your choices are quite limited. Either a payment plan needs to be agreed with the creditor via the bailiff, the debt needs to be paid in full or the bailiff has the right to "distrain" goods on the premises.
By taking stock and business assets to the value of the debt will severely damage the liklihood of the business continuing to trade. This route is often employed quite quickly by aggressive creditors. By paying off one creditor quickly will definately damage the cash flow and trading conditions are usually damaged.
It is always better to get agreements with creditors before bailiffs are employed.
