The process

Before choosing a soltuion provider you need to really have a feeling that they can work with you over different time zones and you will need to pre agree who pays for the cost of expensive telephone calls.

If you are flying back to the UK then the process is the same as if you are a UK resident, however you will need to petition at the High Court in London. Thankfully this is a walk in court and no forward appointment is necessary.

An alternative to flying back to the UK is to appoint an agent who can fully represent you here during the whole insolvency procedure.

By registering a Lasting Power of Attorney with the Office of the Public Guardian your representartive ( attorney ) will have the legal authority to present your Statement of Affairs at the High Court in London.

The statement of affairs needs to be witnessed by either a solicitor or an authorised person in your country but can then be posted back to your attorney to present at court.

A Lasting Power of Attorney costs £150 to register and Bankruptcy Petition at the High Court sosts £522 ( payable in cash ).

The first step is to start with the Lasting Power of Attorney and while this is being authorised the Statement of Affairs and other business prior to bankruptcy can be concluded.
