CH1 1SN
Newish building, ample parking at the front with disabled parking space close to the door. Officially the car park only opens to the public from 9.30am but security are normally OK if you have an earlier appointment.
Through the front door, deposit all metals, keys, coins etc. in a little tray and be checked with a metal detector, collect metals and proceed to 3rd floor to the cashier’s / usher’s office / reception.
When it is your turn approach the window and supply the forms to the clerk, after they have checked that they are completed you have to pay the fees in cash and sign the forms and swear an oath that they are true, in their presence.
Then it’s back to the ground floor, a lift is available, and wait until called before the district judge.
When called the usher may or may not direct you to the judge’s court where you sit whilst he checks through the forms and will likely ask you;
1, have you taken advice??
2, have you considered alternatives??
3, do you understand the process and the implications??
After your answers he will declare you Bankrupt, stating the specific time and likely advise you that any contact from creditors now should be referred to the Official Receiver and not to worry.
Then it’s back up to the 3rd floor into the reception area again and wait to be called.
The Clerk will issue you with a Bankruptcy order showing that you are Bankrupt and take you into a small room to have a brief telephone chat with the Official Receiver, who will confirm some details with you and arrange a date and time for the telephone or face to face interview.
All finished in court, just the Official Receiver interview to deal with.
Overall time from arrival to departure 1.5 to 2 Hours
